Coordinating Council

Steve Janke

Chairman

Steve Janke and his wife Peg joined Grace in December of 2018. He has been a part the Coordinating Council here at Grace since 2019, acting as Chairman for the last four years. Having served in the public ministry for thirty-eight years as a teacher and principal, Steve has found that a continued ministry on the Council is a wonderful way to stay involved in the life of our congregation.

Steve has conducted adult Bible studies at Grace, taught 7th–8th grade confirmation class, served as devotion leader for our Sunday School, and is also a part of our Grace Lutheran Choir. Before joining Grace Lutheran, Steve served in Wyoming, MI, St. Paul Park, MN, and Big Bend, WI.

Steve and Peg are both retired and enjoy using their free time to travel, work in the yard, tinker with a few hobbies, and watch the Milwaukee Brewers. The two of them have a son and daughter-in-law in Milwaukee. 

Cody Guenther

Finance

Cody Guenther has served as the Finance Elder at Grace since 2024. Cody currently works for Syngenta Vegetable Seeds, in which he travels around the midwest selling vegetable seed. 

Cody's role as Finance Elder includes working with the Finance Manager to ensure all church funds are managed appropriately and spent according to the best interest of the congregation.

Outside the church council, Cody enjoys farming, gardening and spending time with his wife and son.

Mike Remiker

Property

Mike Remiker has served as Property Elder at Grace Lutheran Church since 2021. With a passion for building maintenance and property management, he assures that building and property systems are running smoothly and efficiently. He also oversees vacuuming and lawn cutting schedules as well as organizing Spring and Fall cleanups each year. He also assists in safety upgrades and building usage calendar and maintains records of different inspections.

Before being elected to Council, Mike worked for the Manitowoc Public School System in multiple positions in the Custodial and Maintenance departments for 32 years. In those 32 years he has compiled several pieces of experience on how to maintain buildings and property.

When Mike is not at church, he enjoys fishing, Sprint Car racing, lake glass hunting and spending time with his wife and daughter. He loves serving the church and all its members. He is proud to maintain a safe and secure place for the members of Grace worship our loving God.

Tod Hauf

Education

Tod Hauf has been the Education Elder for one and a half years. As such he oversees all matters pertaining to the spiritual education of our members, including the cradle role, the preschool, the Sunday School and Vacation Bible School programs, the church library, and adult and youth Bible studies.

He brings 37 years of experience to this position as a former WELS Lutheran school teacher on the elementary and mostly high school levels, during which time he was a Director of Christian Education and a coach of numerous sports. For the past ten years he has served elderly and handicapped individuals with their transportation needs as a paraprofessional driver for the Assist to Transport company. These occupations have caused him to value making use of God-given talents as best as possible and serving the needs of others. Prioritizing the use of teamwork, time, and other resources to help our church achieve its educational goals and objectives is important to him.

Over the years Tod has enjoyed spending time with his wife, traveling, reading, biking, golfing, and walking. He views Green Bay Packer games as must-see TV and also watches Wisconsin Badger and Marquette basketball games whenever he can.

Tom Meineke

Worship

Tom Meineke has served as the Worship Elder at Grace Lutheran Church for the past 4.5 years.  Tom's basic responsibilities include: working with the church music program and staff; overseeing the altar committee, ushers, greeters, and audio/visual team; and ensuring the church’s audio/visual equipment is maintained and members are serving in these areas. Tom works diligently to ensure the safety and security of our church and preschool.

Tom is retired from many years of working as an environmental, health, safety and security professional in industrial settings.

When not at church, Tom enjoys spending time with his wife and riding bicycles together.

Derrick Gossen

Member Care

Derrick Gossen serves as the Member Care Elder, overseeing fellowship activities, assisting the Brother’s Keeper team, working with visiting member teams, and supporting communication within the congregation.

Derrick is a 2003 graduate of MLHS and 2008 graduate of Michigan Tech in Mechanical Engineering. Derrick works for FM as a Senior Engineering Specialist.

In his downtime, Derrick assists with maintenance at the daycare. He enjoys spending time at the lake, hunting, fishing, coaching baseball and Lego League, and making progress on his never-ending list of projects.

Jeremy Falck

Outreach

Jeremy Falck has served as the Outreach Elder for Grace Lutheran Church since January 2025. In this position, Jeremy oversees and encourages mission outreach as a way of life for the congregation. 

Jeremy has been a member of Grace since 2023. He also enjoys singing in the church choir.
